The Heights at Mt. View

The finishing carpentry package on this project was all about the curves – curved solid wood handrails, curved pony wall caps, curved archways, curved chair rails – all with a different radius. Island Precision met the challenge by using different techniques to build different parts. Wall caps were individually templated and cut by hand, handrails were modeled in AutoCAD and fabricated on a 5-axis milling machine, chair rails and arches were laminated in custom molds in a vacuum press, some pieces were laminated in situ to follow difficult curves. Other work included the (curved) café kiosk and concierge centre, aquarium, fireplaces and altar. The result is a warm, rich-looking, very custom project.
